Verenthia offers a diverse range of races to choose from with each upholding a different heritage and background story. Each race comes with a unique set of advantages, disadvantages and certain traits that define them from one another. This short guide gives loose points for each race to help you decide which one is the right choice for you to roleplay as.
As a reminder, you may only have one character per account. Players are only allowed to play the races listed in this thread unless they have applied for a unique race with staff permission.
Humans are separated into four different sub-races. They are the easiest race to roleplay and also the most adaptable for any situation. If you are new to roleplay, humans are greatly recommended. They are well balanced compared to other races with impressive racials. However, the other races tend to have a strong distaste for humans, so expect to be treated with such. Humans also have the most advanced technology, making architects and inventors highly sought for.
Dwarves are an aggressive race and share little room for companionship. They are not gifted with magic and so most of their culture reflects around hand to hand combat. Dwarves are also greedy and are known to fight to the death over spoils. Dwarves are recommended to players whom wish to play the role of a bully or a mercenary. While they are brutal, dwarves can be known to have a good sense of humor. Majority of dwarves live in underground locations and can only pursue the profession their bloodline is born into. The most common professions among dwarves are blacksmithing and mining.
Halflings are both beautiful and quick. Their societies are poor and are well hidden from civilisation. Halflings are very good magic users though most tend to favor working with blades. They are also quite frail and small compared to the other races, giving them both pros and cons. Those wishing to play the part of a thief, assassin or a summoner will easily find their place playing as a Halfling. They can also be gifted negotiators, allowing them to talk or lie through most conversations.
Elves are seperated into three sub-races. Each is highly unique so choose wisely. They should only be played by advanced roleplayers for they are extremely intelligent and also very racist. All of the elven races are gifted with the touch of magic and the grace of agility. Elves are recommended to players whom wish to play a reserved and broody character. Most elves typically favor to become rangers, scouts or bards.
Baysaad are separated into two sub-races. They are the largest and strongest of races but they are also one of the most misunderstood. Their cultures are complex and are very different to that of humans and elves. Their bodies are very seasonal, and anyone playing one should make sure to play them correctly to the current season, especially summer. Baysaad are recommended to players with previous roleplay experience whom want to play the monstrous or berserker role.
