[World Map]
[Region Overview]
Kildheimer
The north-west region of Verenthia. Clouded in a constant state of winter, temperatures are always below average and the weather is battering. Storms, blizzards and snowfall are annual, only leaving small patches of the landscape unaffected. Summer and Autumn still possess cold temperatures, though the duration of snowfall and rain is reduced.
The landscape is mostly consisted of mountains and hills, much of which are unexplored due to their steep altitude. Thick fur and pine forests offer reprieve from the ferocious storms along with caves and rocky outcrops. The beasts that live here are hardy and fearsome, with widely scattered populations of wolves, bears, bison, cougars and elk dotting the region.
Amberlin
The largest and most fertile of lands. Here human presence is most dominant with hundreds of settlements, towns, villages and cities staking their ground on the map. Temperatures are moderate and most beneficial to survival, with warm summers, cool winters and pleasant springs. Rainfall is considerably higher toward the coast, with the drier regions reaching in toward the south-east.
Amberlin is mostly a hilly region with small clusters of mountains and rolling green pastures. Rivers and small lakes run throughout the land, and with them are temperate forests filled with a hybrid of fur, deciduous and evergreens. The beasts that inhabit the region are mostly herbivores with horses, ox, goat, sheep and rabbit being the most common.
Yshmir
Once being a beautiful land, much of it has been twisted into an abomination of it's former self. Much of the region is now considered infertile with large expanses of land being converted into deserts and desolate barren landscapes. Being a northerly based region, Yshmir is often subjected to cold dry temperatures. Rainfall is not plentiful, but the gusts and storms are known to be violent.
Most of the land is hazardous and alien with strong sharp mountain peaks weaving throughout the gullies. Towards the east near the border is where the lands become more habitable, with evidence of fresh forest and grassland. Animals within the region are mostly scavengers, with vultures and carrion birds being able to adapt the best. Ram, goat and scattered populations of mountain lions have been recorded inhabiting the mountainsides.
Syncellia
Sitting on the front between the cool air from the north and warm air from the south, Syncellia is home of the wind. With tornadoes lashing the northern region, much of the inhabitants have been forced to remain toward the southern-eastern coast. Summers are quite warm, and winters do not last too long, making the overall annual temperature quite comfortable, yet the weather unpredictable. Fortunately, much of the region is clouded in thick forests, restricting the flow of chaotic air.
The land is rich in diversity with many species of animals and plants calling Syncellia home. Deer, wolves, large cats, forest fowl, otter and boar are the common game in the area, with many variations in between. Much of the trees in the region grow quite tall, with the trunks thin, allowing smaller foliage and easy passage in between.
Midland
Called so due to being squashed between every other region, the land is known to be quite flat and prone to moderate flooding. Midland offers long flat open grasslands, savannah and swamps as the main ecosystems. The only mountain range in the region is also the smallest in Verenthia. Midland is famous for its equine population, however swine, lion, snakes and even elephant have been spotted grazing on the open plains.
Rainfall is moderate to heavy and the seasons are known to be quite drawn. Summers are warm and dry, autumn is consistently chilly and winter can be frightfully cold at times. Spring tends to be the most popular season of the region, offering perfect temperatures and weather for it's duration.
Humad
The warm sea of sand is what the region is mostly famous for. High temperatures all year round and freezing temperatures during the night make Humad a difficult place to live for outsiders. Summer is constant and with it comes sand storms that lash the inner most parts of the land.
Canyons, caves, chasms, mountains and scattered oasis are the only points of refuge or safety. The sand can get incredibly hot during summer, leaving it to scald skin and face alike.
Snakes, lizards, insects, birds of prey and camel are common species found in the deserts while the oasis offer much more variety with equine, boar, tortoise and many species of fish.
Uktari
With a formidable wet season and flash flooding events, the tropical rainforest ranges of the Uktari offer home to the most abundant species of animal and beast found in all Verenthia.
The rigid mountains are mostly unclaimed and unexplored since they are considered too hazardous.
Summer is the wettest season of the year, providing huge rainfall periods that leave the lower sections of the forest to flood. Winter is the dry season with only a few casual storms per fortnight.
Animals of all kinds are found here, including the most dangerous and the largest. Plant-life can be just as dangerous with several species reported to be highly toxic or large enough to swallow a man whole. The entire region is mountainous with very few flat areas or open spaces, forcing any explorers to seek a scout for exploration or to keep to any main passages.
